The nA vi 770 adds maps for Europe. The nA vi 780 adds enhanced MSN direct content capability.. Which nA vi is Best for You?: Click here to see a quick, simple comparison of features for all Garmin nuvi GPS navigators Garmin's nA vis pack top of the line features into a slim form factor. | Wider screen lets you see more of what's around. Compare these actual size views of a 3-inch (diagonal) screen and a 4.3-inch diagonal widescreen | New Features -- Where Am I? Where's My Car? The nA vi 700 series is the first to answer two common questions: "Where am I?" and "Where’s my car?"
At any time, with a single tap of the screen, drivers can display their exact latitude and longitude coordinates, the nearest address and intersection, and the closest hospitals, police stations and gas stations. And to help drivers find their car in an unfamiliar spot or vast parking lot, all nA vi 700s automatically mark the position in which they were last removed from the mount. New Features -- Multi-Destination Routing This lets you enter several spots into the device (day care - supermarket-cleaners - office - day care, for example) and it will plot the fastest route. And once you've found the best router, the "Route Planning" feature lets you save up to 10 different routes, Garmin touts the feature for providing, "the most efficient route for errands, deliveries and sales calls." The feature also makes this an instant essential accessory for anyone who shops garage sales (you know what we're talking about). A trip log provides an electronic bread crumb trail of up to 10,000 points, so you can see where you've been on the map. See Better, See More The super-bright, 4.3-inch (diagonal) touchscreen display gives is anti-glare for ease of viewing during the day and automatically changes its color profile for easy viewing at night or in dim light. It offers 2d or 3D perspective views. The widescreen format gives you 70% more actual screen area than a 3.5-inch screen. Primarily this translates into a better view of the area through which you are driving. This is especially useful in showing you what parks, restaurants, ATM, gas stations, etc. are nearby, or in letting you know whether a detour is a good idea. Also, the device itself is larger, meaning controls on the screen are more widely spaced and somewhat easier to push.
First Rate Map Data All nA vi 700s come preloaded with highly detailed City Navigator NT road maps for the entire United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. This map database features nearly six million points of interest (POIs), including hotels, restaurants, gas stations, ATMs, and attractions. Garmin gets its map data from NAVTEQ, a world leader in premium-quality mapping. Important note about map updates: Due to our high volume of sales, almost every Garmin portable GPS navigator sold by Amazon.com will come with the most recent map version. If you ever do need a map update, you can purchase one from Amazon.com at our Garmin Store. Hands-Free Calling In more and more places, it is becoming illegal to use cell phones while driving without a hands-free kit. WIth Bluetooth capability, microphone and speaker, you can match your nA vi to any bluetooth-capable phone to make hands-free mobile phone calls. Simply dial the phone number with the nA vi's touch screen keypad to make a call on a compatible phone. To answer an incoming call, just tap the screen and speak into the built-in microphone. Making and taking calls on the road has never been easier, or safer. In addition, Garmin makes it a breeze to look-up and dial numbers from your personalized phone book or even tap into your cell phone's call history log. Integrated FM Traffic Receiver
| Steer clear of traffic with an integrated FM traffic receiver designed to receive alerts from TMC Clear Channel about traffic tie-ups and road construction that might lie ahead on your route. All you have to do is simply touch the screen to view traffic details and you'll be ready to detour around any problem area. And if you end up missing a turn, or you're forced into a detour that is not relayed through the traffic receiver, the nA vi's sophisticated automatic routing will get you back on track in no time. In most areas, TMC Clear Channel traffic broadcasts are continuous a there's no waiting for scheduled traffic news updates or random alerts. Because traffic broadcasts are received via a "silent" FM data channel, you can still listen to music or news programming on your car radio without interference from incoming FM traffic data transmissions.
A 3-month subscription to TMC Clear Channel's Total Traffic Network is included with purchase of this device. For more information on subscription fees, coverage in individual cities, and traffic data networks in the United Kingdom and Europe, check the Garmin website.

Nuvi 760 January 6, 2009 nc43202 (Cincinnati, OH) The only thing on this unit that I don't think was a valuable option is the bluetooth. When I've tried to use this, I have a hard time hearing the person I'm talking to when I'm driving at highway speeds and they hear an echo when I talk. Otherwise, I think it's a great system and I'd buy it again.
Garmin nuevi 760 4.3-Inch GPS January 6, 2009 Scott Harms (Nebraska) I have used a Garmin 660 in the past, as well as other brands, and purchased this with no regrets. I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in an affordable, yet highly functional GPS.
For the price you pay you get way more! January 6, 2009 A. Barrera Very...very good GPS! Pros: Very fast calculation to your destination and also when you make a wrong turn it will recalculation less than half a block before the next turn, Bluetooh is one of the major plus on the GPS as you can make calls hand free with a phone book features and if your stereo system has an AUX you can use that to amplify the GPS audio to make and class and listen to mp3. Ooyeah it plays mp3 files and you can even make your own playlist in the GPS unlike the 660 version which I upgrade from so just stick an 8gig memory card in the GPS and you have yourself media center (note: will not play movies). The LCD screen is improved from the 660 models you no longer need to pound the buttons to select. "Where I'm I" is an added bonus feature, you can select the car on screen and it will give nearest hospitals, police stations, nearest address and you can also save the car's location on screen very handy if cant see the street names or address. I recommend the 760 series for helpful features and make sure you update on the web you get tones of cool free stuff like different cars and funky looking rides. YOU GET YOUR MONEYS WORTH Cons: can't play videos, I understand its a GPS and your not suppose to be distracted on the road but thats a great feature if you are parked or on the go and waiting in line at six flags...etc.....That is the only con i can think of, it just does it job and get you to your destination.
Garmin Nuvi 760 Great value January 6, 2009 B. Miles I purchased the Garmin 760 at about 1/2 price through Amazon. I previously had a Honda Accord with in-dash GPS which I truly enjoyed. My trade-in had no GPS so purchased the 760. Many of the reviews complained of poor performance by the FM transmission feature. I live in Idaho which has limited FM stations giving plenty of free frequencies to choose from. I find this feature works great for me. My only complaint is that I cannot listen to other music because of the audio system being tuned to a vacant FM station. The best system would allow audio usage and cut out the volume when GPS voice directions where given. I like the screen size as well as the fonts and colors. Sometimes the route engine does not calculate a route the way I would prefer it to go. I hope this doesn't create a problem when I travel in unknown areas. Overall I consider this GPS to be a good productd for a good value.
Wonderful Device January 6, 2009 Freedom Baerheim I bought this for my husband for Christmas after reading some good reviews on line about the Garmin 760. I was worried about buying something like this, but the price was fair and I hoped he would enjoy it. Enjoy is an understatement. He has yet to put it down! He is a tech guy at heart so it was not hard for him to get everything set up and working. The device so far knows about 99% of all locations we have entered in and there are so many features on it that he finds something new to do with it everyday. If you know someone who loves to fiddle around with PDA type systems and needs a good navigator then I recommend this product.

| Worthwhile Reading | Reduce Gas Costs by Driving More Efficiently with GPS By Jeremy Lakota
Whether the current cost of gasoline is affordable or astronomical, providing yourself or someone you love the assistance of a car GPS unit helps in many ways. Especially as both a wantonly punctual driver and consumer of motor fuel, the cost of which fluctuates quite regularly into very expensive. Our driving habits can help offset this cost.
Even for motorists who are filling up their tanks just weekly, adding a GPS device to even common commutes can show most efficient routes. Those that can save a great deal of gas because they are driven most days. A couple miles can really add up over the course of a work week. With any route that focuses more on town or city roads instead of highways, the small loss of engine efficiency should be considered, too. Especially for trips over eighty miles.
When buying a car GPS, it is important to look for ease-of-use features like touch screen display and voice activation. These common, but not universal, features provide an overall better experience. A large number of GPS owners who have been using car GPS for several years are repurchasing their GPS device or upgrading their GPS experience with new devices from companies like Garmin, TomTom, Magellan, Mio, and SureShot (a golf GPS device!).
For travelers who travel a lot or go to new locations often, using the most fuel-efficient route over a year can balance out the cost of a new car GPS device. A lot of the popular units go for between $200 and $500. And, if you want the overall best experience, you can get top-of-the-line for a mere starting price of around $600. With one of these you can be the envy of all your friends that have car GPS, too. Click here to see some great car GPS devices available now.
