The 525 is a compact, high-resolution fish finder that is easy to use, and mounts virtually anywhere on your boat, giving you the economical, yet powerful tools you need to make the most out of every single fishing opportunity. The Humminbird 525 fish finder utilizes a high-contrast, 5-inch, 12-level grayscale FSTN LCD display with 240 x 240 lines of resolution to provide you with crystal-clear views of fish, the bottom topography and surrounding structures. This unit makes use of a 20-degree single-beam sonar that is optimized for coverage and precision bottom detail. This powerful system ultimately provides you with a reliable picture up to a depth of 800 feet, and with Real Time Sonar and Sonar Echo Enhancement you not only instantly capture the action under your boat, but get a target separation of as little as 2.5 inches and can track a small jig to over 40 feet. Great Product for the panfish fisherman!!! December 14, 2009 Servant (Stone Mountain, GA) Not sure if my review will weight much to others but this product helps you put fish in the boat. On my last trip out on a local georgia lake, me and a partner were the only two catching fish (well it was a cold fall day and many were leaving because of it). The fish were on the move due to fall lake turnover but we used the Real time sonar window and could see our jigs and the depth of the fish. When the fish moved by the boat we know just how deep they were and could see our jigs so we knew how deep or shalow to go. This fishfinder works great.
VERY PLEASED June 27, 2009 GC (BULLHEAD CITY, AZ) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
SEEMS TO BE AN NICE PIECE OF EQUIPMENT AND IT WAS THE BEST PRICE WE COULD FIND ANYWHERE. IT CAN FIND THE FISH, BUT . . . IT WON'T HOOK THEM!! WE ARE VERY PLEASED.
Humminbird 525 Fish finder February 22, 2009 David H. Masuo 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have used this product previously and find it does exactly what I need it to do. I need to see the depth of the water. Since I am back trolling, it is too late to see the fish anyway. The depth finder tells me what the depth is and where my bait has been.
3 years had enough December 14, 2008 ross732 (Brielle, NJ United States) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Ive been using my 525 for 3 years in the ocean on a 15 ft Boston Whaler in NJ. I have had the same internal fogging problem on the screen - also the unit works about 50% of the time. I have to turn it off and on all the time then it says 3 feet in the middle of the ocean and usually only powering off and on helps. Sometimes it gets stuck on 3 feet while I am driving and sometimes while I am drifting. There is no pattern and it has done this for 3 years so I am looking at Garmins for next summer.
Also I contacted Humminbird via email and they were no help. They sent a list of 20 things that might cause this but no real answer.
Stay Away! October 9, 2008 David A. Stout 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
The depth reading on this fish finder bounced all over the place. It would jump from 3' to 15' constantly in 10' of water. I would have thought it a fluke but I later learned that two other people I work with had the same problem. Then I learned from a few fishing forums that several other people had this problem. I'm not sure if it's specific to the M#525 or the entire 500 series but no one is complaining about the other Humminbird models. I sent this back and bought a Lowrance X96, problem solved.
